This page is to provide some clarity on our policies on billing, labor, meal breaks, etc.

In this day and age, I believe we can all agree that four hours of pay is the minimum amount of work that is still worth someone’s time.

OVERTIME EXPLAINED

Event Tex charges OVERTIME rates in the following situations: – After 10 Hours
– After Midnight
– On Holidays
– On Sundays

Holidays are obvious, but to explain our Sunday policy, Sunday is a day that we would all rather be at home spending time with our families.  If your event must be on a Sunday, we will gladly help you with whatever you need done, but at time and a half, which we feel is very fair.

MEAL BREAKS

After five hours of work, a meal break is needed.  We did not make this up, this is just how the human body works.  And while working longer than five consecutive hours without food will not kill someone, we feel that food at five hours is a reasonable policy and that a fed crew is a productive crew.  Personnel will need to be allowed a one hour walkaway (off the clock) meal, or a half hour on the clock with food provided.  Obviously, our crew prefers the latter, but the choice is yours.

MEAL PENALTY

Should your workflow schedule prevent a meal break being taken at or before 5 hours, overtime rates will be charged after 5 hours until a meal break is taken.

Cancellation Policy

Regarding our policies on cancellations; if cancellation is within 48 Hours of the scheduled work,  100% of the deposit is held. Austin is a very competitive labor market, especially in March.  Late cancellations can adversely affect the individuals scheduled to work.      If cancellation is over 2 weeks in advance of date of scheduled work, 100% of the deposit is returned.  Two weeks is enough time to reschedule employees with minimal problems, so we are happy to return deposits in full that are canceled with over 2 weeks notice.      If cancellations are made with at least one week notice we will return 75% of the deposit amount, and if cancellation is made with less than one week’s notice, we refund 50% of the deposit amount.      We feel like this is a pretty fair way to handle this, but if you feel this is unfair, we would be happy discuss this with you on a case by case basis.

Admin Fee

All invoices include a 20% admin fee.  This is to cover the costs of all the administrative work involved in staffing for your event.
